Event Lead & People Manager

Duvall Catering & Events – Charleston, SC

Duvall Catering & Events is seeking an experienced Event Lead & People Manager to join our Charleston team. This role is ideal for a hospitality professional who is passionate about delivering exceptional events while developing and leading high-performing teams.

You will play a key role in training, coaching, and leading service staff and Event Leads, while ensuring seamless execution of events and maintaining high service standards.

Key Responsibilities

Team Leadership & Development

• Lead the training and onboarding of service staff and Event Leads, including event execution, packing procedures, displays, and setups
• Develop, update, and maintain training materials and manuals
• Provide ongoing coaching, feedback, and performance evaluations to Event Leads and service staff
• Monitor team performance and identify opportunities for training and development
• Support staffing efforts, including check-ins, coverage, and collaboration with the staffing manager

Event Execution & Operations

• Lead off-site events as needed, ensuring strong execution and guest experience
• Partner with Sales and Operations teams to review upcoming events and align on execution plans
• Translate event details into clear direction for the event team
• Build and maintain Event Binders to support successful event execution

Quality & Continuous Improvement

• Review event feedback and identify trends to improve service and operations
• Ensure consistent adherence to service standards across all events
• Maintain compliance with TIPS certification requirements for bartenders and staff

Operational Support

• Manage inventory of staff uniforms
• Support operational readiness for events

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in the event or hospitality industry
• At least 3 years of management or team leadership experience
• Event lead experience preferred
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
• Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to provide direct and constructive feedback
• Detail oriented with strong organizational skills
• Ability to build and maintain professional working relationships
• Understanding of food and beverage operations is a plus
• Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record and ability to operate a box truck

Additional Requirements

• Must be available to work nights, weekends, and holidays based on event schedules
