Job Overview

We are seeking a dynamic and proactive Safety Trainer/Safety Specialist that can work closely with customers and internal staff. In this rewarding role, you will develop and deliver safety training and oversee the development and roll out of comprehensive safety training programs for our Members. This role works to ensures compliance with all applicable safety regulations, promotes a culture of safety, and delivers multiple types of safety training and consulting and therefore requires the ability to enthusiastically multi-task to help our members succeed.

Some responsibilities may include:

  • Design, implement, and facilitate engaging safety training sessions tailored to member and non-member companies and their site-specific needs.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local safety regulations (e.g., OSHA, MSHA)
  • Conduct workplace safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments
  • Investigate accidents and incidents; recommend corrective actions
  • Help maintain safety records, reports, and documentation
  • Assist in the development and enforcement of safety policies and procedures
  • Monitor and update safety programs as regulations or workplace conditions change
  • Answer the MSSC Safety hotline to serve as a resource for safety-related questions and best practices

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in safety, occupational health, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 1+ years of experience in workplace safety, training, or risk management
  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations and safety compliance standards
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Safety certifications (e.g., OSHA Outreach Trainer, CSP, ASP, MSHA)
  • Experience in [industry—construction, manufacturing, refining, etc.]

Work Environment:

  • Combination of office and field/worksite environments
  • May require travel to various locations up to 50% of your time.
