OSP Wireline Construction Trainer

We are seeking an OSP Wireline Construction Trainer for a full-time, direct-hire role supporting operations in Dallas, Texas . This position is responsible for developing and delivering both classroom and field-based training for Outside Plant (OSP) wireline fiber construction crews. The role emphasizes safe, efficient underground fiber installation and the proper operation of heavy equipment used in OSP construction.

Required Skills & Experience

• Authorization to work in the United States
• Utility construction field experience with a focus on crew leadership
• Telecommunications construction experience strongly preferred
• Ability to foster a positive and productive working environment
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to present effectively in both classroom and field environments
• Ability to work with individuals at all organizational levels
• Basic computer proficiency (Google applications preferred)
• Ability to pass a DOT physical exam and obtain a valid medical card

Desired Skills & Experience

• Previous experience training or mentoring construction crews
• Strong knowledge of underground fiber installation best practices
• Experience conducting worksite walk-throughs and safety evaluations

Key Responsibilities

• Train new and existing employees to company and industry standards
• Deliver classroom instruction and hands-on field training for OSP wireline crews
• Ensure crews are qualified, safety-compliant, and job-ready

Equipment & Tools Exposure

• Backhoe
• Excavator
• Directional drill
• Diesel and gasoline-powered equipment
• Pneumatic gopher / jetting equipment
• Air compressors

Daily Responsibilities

• Train crews on the safe operation of heavy equipment (backhoe, excavator, directional drill)
• Train proper use of hand and small tools (shovels, tampers, generators, etc.)
• Train identification and locating of buried utilities and cabling
• Train underground communications cable installation, including pedestals and hand holes
• Train flagging procedures and traffic control practices
• Train proper property protection and worksite restoration
• Conduct worksite walk-throughs and address field performance or safety issues
• Support managers with employee development and training plans
• Maintain accurate training records and documentation

Compensation & Benefits

• Full-time, direct-hire position
• Salary range: $70,000 – $90,000
• Bonus eligibility: 15%
