Job Description

About Beyel Brothers, Inc.

Beyel Brothers, Inc. is a Florida-based crane rental, rigging, heavy haul, and marine/barge services company headquartered in Cocoa, Florida. We operate one of the Southeast's most capable heavy lift fleets, supporting major infrastructure, energy, and industrial projects across the region. Our all-terrain crane fleet includes some of the largest and most technically demanding equipment in the industry, and the operators who run that fleet are the core of what we do. This is not an entry-level crane seat. This is a role for someone who has put serious time on large iron and knows how to perform at the highest level of the trade.

Position Summary

The Large All-Terrain Crane Operator is responsible for the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of Beyel Brothers, Inc.'s large all-terrain crane fleet on active construction, industrial, energy, and infrastructure jobsites across Florida and the Southeast. This is a field-based position working on complex, high-consequence lifts in environments that demand exceptional skill, situational awareness, and professionalism. You will work closely with lift directors, riggers, signal persons, and project teams to execute critical picks safely and in compliance with applicable OSHA regulations, engineered lift plans, and Beyel Brothers, Inc.'s operational standards.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Operating large all-terrain cranes, including equipment rated at 100 tons and above, on commercial, industrial, energy, and infrastructure jobsites throughout Florida and the Southeast
  • Reading, understanding, and executing engineered lift plans, critical lift plans, and rigging studies prior to and during lift operations
  • Conducting thorough pre-shift and post-shift inspections of the crane in accordance with OSHA 29 CFR 1926 Subpart CC, ASME B30.5, and manufacturer requirements, and documenting all inspection findings accurately
  • Assembling, configuring, and disassembling crane components including boom sections, counterweights, outrigger pads, and attachments in accordance with OEM specifications and site requirements
  • Communicating clearly and professionally with lift directors, riggers, signal persons, and ground crews throughout all phases of the lift
  • Maintaining situational awareness of ground conditions, overhead obstructions, wind speed, load radius, and all other site-specific factors affecting lift safety
  • Completing all required operator logs, load charts, and documentation in accordance with Beyel Brothers, Inc. policy and applicable regulatory requirements
  • Performing operator-level maintenance including lubrication, fluid checks, and minor adjustments, and reporting all mechanical deficiencies to the Service Manager immediately
  • Operating in compliance with OSHA 29 CFR 1926 Subpart CC at all times, including assembly and disassembly procedures, safety device requirements, and qualified rigger and signal person protocols
  • Transporting crane and related components between jobsites as required, including self-propelled road travel in compliance with Florida oversize and overweight permitting requirements under Florida Statutes Sections 316.515 and 316.550
  • Representing Beyel Brothers, Inc. professionally at all times on customer and contractor jobsites

Required Certifications and Qualifications

The following are required. They are not preferences. They reflect the technical and regulatory demands of operating large all-terrain cranes in a commercial crane rental environment.

  • NCCCO Certified Crane Operator (CCO) certification for Mobile Cranes, specifically All-Terrain and Rough Terrain or Lattice Boom Truck Mounted is required. Candidates with equivalent certification through a nationally accredited program recognized under OSHA 29 CFR 1926.1427 will be considered
  • NCCCO certification must be current and valid at time of hire and must be maintained without lapse throughout employment
  • Minimum 5 years of verified experience operating all-terrain cranes rated at 100 tons or greater is required
  • Experience on specific large AT crane models including Tadano, Liebherr, Grove, or Manitowoc equipment is strongly preferred. Experience on the Tadano AC 5.250-1 or AC 5.250L-2 or comparable 250 to 300 ton class all-terrain cranes is a significant plus
  • Demonstrated experience executing critical lifts and working from engineered lift plans is required
  • Valid Class A CDL is required for self-propelled road travel of crane equipment. Candidates with a Class B CDL and otherwise exceptional qualifications will be considered
  • OSHA 10-Hour Construction certification is required. OSHA 30-Hour Construction is preferred
  • Familiarity with Florida oversize and overweight travel requirements for self-propelled crane road moves is required
  • Rigging knowledge and working familiarity with ASME B30.9 sling standards and below-the-hook lifting devices is required
  • Must be able to pass a DOT physical examination and maintain a valid medical examiner certificate
  • Must be enrolled in and compliant with Beyel Brothers, Inc.'s DOT drug and alcohol testing program under 49 CFR Part 382 including the FMCSA Clearinghouse

Who We Are Looking For

  • An experienced, professional crane operator who takes the weight of the seat seriously and has the track record to back it up
  • Someone with deep familiarity with large all-terrain crane assembly, configuration, and operation across a variety of site conditions and lift types
  • A strong communicator on the ground and in the cab who understands that crane safety is a team function and that the operator sets the tone
  • Physically capable of performing the full range of duties associated with crane assembly, inspection, and operation including working at heights and in outdoor environments across varied weather conditions
  • Willing to travel throughout Florida and the Southeast as project assignments require, including overnight travel and extended project stays
  • Professional in conduct and appearance as a direct representative of Beyel Brothers, Inc. on customer and general contractor jobsites

Compensation and Benefits

  • Competitive hourly rate or salary commensurate with experience and equipment class
  • Per diem and travel coverage for out-of-area project assignments in accordance with Beyel Brothers, Inc. travel policy
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance with premiums cost-shared between Beyel Brothers, Inc. and the employee
  • 401(k) retirement plan with employer match
  • Paid vacation days
