Job Summary

The Fire Alarm Technician is responsible for servicing, programming, maintaining, and repairing fire alarm systems to ensure compliance with fire and electrical codes. The role requires troubleshooting, performing upgrades, educating clients on preventative maintenance, and producing accurate service reports. This position requires flexibility, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently in a variety of conditions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform repairs, maintenance, and upgrades on fire alarm systems
  • Program and troubleshoot fire alarm systems
  • Diagnose and resolve system issues
  • Ensure compliance with fire and electrical codes
  • Educate clients on preventative care and maintenance best practices
  • Maintain and operate tools and equipment, including preventive maintenance
  • Produce accurate and detailed service reports
  • Stay current with code requirements and industry changes
  • Travel between job sites as needed
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Required Skills & Abilities

  • Valid FAL license
  • Ability to travel between multiple job sites daily
  • Comfortable working independently with minimal supervision
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Physically able to lift up to 80 lbs, work outdoors, and climb ladders

Preferred Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • At least 2 years’ related experience in fire alarm systems
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Familiarity with fire alarm system tools and technology

Work Environment

  • Job performed at various indoor and outdoor sites, exposed to weather conditions
  • Physically active role: walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and climbing ladders multiple times per day
